  The Learnables®

Level 1 consists of The Learnables®-1 and Basic Structures-1. The Learnables® teaches listening comprehension. Individuals can acquire a foreign language as easily as children develop their first language by following some relatively simple procedures. The Learnables® is a picture system of instruction that requires no translation from English. Students look at hundreds of pictures and listen to audio recordings of words and simple sentences by native speakers. Language comprehension takes place without difficulty. Students think directly in the foreign language.

Students begin with The Learnables® Book 1. Ten picture lessons with accompanying audio recordings teach students to listen carefully and to understand basic sentences presented in short-story sequences.
